The active ingredient of Alfa Vitamins®’ Omega 3, 6, 9 (Flax Oil) is Flax oil or flaxseed oil.
Linseed oil is obtained from the flax seeds (Linum usitatissimum), which is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega-3), unsaturated (Omega-6) and oleic fatty acids (Omega 9). Linseed oil also contains proteins, carbohydrates, fibers, calcium and magnesium among other elements.
Omega-3 are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (for our body cannot produce them), being the most common alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Omega-6 (GLA) are essential unsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic acid, γ-linolenic acid and eicosadienoico acid, among others.
Omega-9 are non-essential monounsaturated fatty acids for they can be created in our body from unsaturated fats. In addition, due to its chemical properties, it is involved in other reactions of our body. Some of the fatty acids contained in this group are oleic acid and erucic acid.
