Proposition 65 FAQ
What is Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 is the California Safe
Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Any company that operates in
California, sells products in California, or manufactures products that may be
sold in or brought into California is subject to Proposition 65.
What elements are regulated by Proposition
65?
Proposition 65 contains a list of more than
600 elements that the California Air Resources Board considers a carcinogen or
a reproductive toxicants. These elements included lead, brass, PVC and many
other everyday used elements. The list of elements keeps changing and is
periodically updated. Elements are added to the list, some elements are
removed. It is excessively difficult to keep track of the changing list of
elements.
Why the products manufactured by alfa vitamins Laboratories, Inc. contain those elements?
Alfa Vitamins Laboratories, Inc. dietary supplements contain
many ingredients of natural origin, like herbal powders, extracts and
ingredients obtained from animals. Some of the elements listed in the
Proposition 65, like lead, are found in the atmosphere and in the soil and they
can be absorbed by the plants and secondarily by the animals that feed on those
plants.
What is the level of lead in Alfa Vitamins Laboratories, Inc.?
The level of lead of Alfa Vitamins Laboratories, Inc. products
varies from batch to batch, depending on the herbal or animal ingredients
contained in the product and the geographical area where those herbs were
growth. International regulations call for lead levels in herbs to remain below
10 mcg/g and all of our products comply with that specification. Our products
also comply with the level of Heavy Metals (expressed as lead) established in the United Stated Pharmacopeia
(USP). However, Proposition 65 sets a limit of 0.5 mcg/g, which is far below
lead levels allowed everywhere.
